Ok here is a question, When I open PowerPoint under the file
there are several Powerpoint presentations that were created
How do I delete these items? Dumb question I know, I have never used
this program before.

First things first :) This should have been submitted as a new post, not as
a reply to another post - specially since it has absolutely no connection to
that topic :) If you need some guidance in using newsgroups you might take a
look at the Getting Started... Link here:

As to your question: Go to PowerPoint> Preferences> General, remove the
check for Recently Used File List, then click OK. Then go right back &
restore the check (if you wish). Note: This will clear all items from the
Most Recently Used list.

Did you click OK to close the Preferences _before_ going back to restore the
check? - Just un-checking/rechecking the box won't clear the list. I've
never seen this fail in PPt or Word. Once the list is cleared & you restore
the check the program does begin to track the MRUs again, so as you open
files they will start to be listed based on the number you have set in the
Prefs.

Yeah I hit ok and closed pp, then I opened it again and went to
general and checked the box again
and they reappeared.

Seems quite unusual: Try removing the check, confirm that the list is
cleared then re-launch PPt. The list still should be vacated. Then set the
Pref to whatever you prefer or leave it turned off altogether. If you do set
it back to being active the MRU file list still should remain cleared until
you open another file.

If that doesn't resolve it you may have a corrupt preference file... Which
is not a big deal, but we'll worry about that if & when necessary.

Ok I got it fixxed. did it again and this time did a reboot and ran
norton's. runs like a champ, Thanks for the help and the pointers.
cheers.

Glad you got it resolved!

I don't know this for certain, but Norton could be a contributor to the
problem. There have been a number of issues associated with it since OS X
arrived on the scene. If you have any further problems you might try turning
the Norton features off & see if it has an effect :-)
