How to add MY template designs to "Change Slides" section of Formatting Palette?

Is there any way to add my own slide design templates to the Change
Slides section of the Formatting Palette? I'd like to have them
available at a click just like the ones that come default with the
program.

I tried saving a "sample.pot" template file to the directory where all
the default templates are, but it still doesn't show up in the
Formatting Palette. (I even tried closing and restarting PPT but that
didn't work either.)

Thanks for any help!

(Note ~ I'm using Mac PPT 2004 v.11)

Hi Doug,

You can have your templates be available in the Project Gallery but not in
the Formatting Palette.

The ability to add our own stuff the formatting palette is a feature request
that I made a long time ago.  If you add your voice by sending feedback via
the Help menu it would help.

Thanks.

... But at least by storing it with the built-in templates you can click the
last thumbnail (Select Template) in the palette to get direct access to the
list of Design Template files & apply it from there. And if you set the
viewing mode of the Choose a Slide Design window to Columns your custom
template will preview in the last column.

Small consolation but perhaps more convenient that having to access the
Design Gallery.

No, unfortunately that pane is not customizable.  This is a good feature
request.  In PowerPoint X or 2004, go to Help > Send Feedback on PowerPoint.
Otherwise, click on this direct link to enter Mac Product Feedback:
