Mac Book ppt slide not expanding to full screen - black borders on ea side

When opening a slide / presentation in full screen mode on the Mac Book
the slide does not expand to the full width of the screen. There is a
black border on each side of the slide.
Does anyone know how to get rid of these?

That's because the MacBook has a widescreen display, and presentations are
by default sized at a 4:3 ratio.  You can re-size slides by going to File >
Page Setup in PowerPoint.  You need to re-size the slides so that the ratio
of width:height is equal to the ratio of width:height for your screen (check
your resolution in System Preferences).  This is all explained in more
