Using an action button to trigger an animation effect

is there a way to use an action button to trigger an animation effect?
i would like to be able to click the button and have it trigger an
Emphasis/Change File Color animation for an object on the slide.

Hi Karen,

You could get this effect by making the button go to a slide that has
the animations on it but the new slide looks like the slide you started
off with.

Karen,

I don't think the 'trigger' effect of the windows powerpoint made it into
the mac version :(
