Is there any way to have each slide (in a short 10 slide presentation)
have their own Slide Design?
I know it wouldn't look great, but I'm trying to do something in
particular with this short presentation, and it requires that each
slide's background be different.

It depends how the slides have been done (if they already have been),
but at worst each slide is it's own separate entity. Don't use a Master
Slide and you can import an image or draw a filled rectangle that is
stretched to cover the entire slide and then move it to the back so
that it is displayed behind everything else.

Hi Pitch -
Its easiest if you switch to Slide Sorter view. Make sure the Formatting
Palette is turned on & open to the section captioned 'Change Slides' & that
the tab for Slide Design is active.
Click a slide, the click the Design Template you want to apply to it. Don't
miss the oblong 'More' button at the bottom edge of that section as there
are approximately 60 designs to choose from, not just the first 8 displayed.
