Slide Viewer oddity

Using Powerpoint 2004 on OS 10.3 and selecting the slide sorder view, some
slides redraw fine, while others appear blank.  The same thing happens for
any presentation. No other mode does this:

- Selecting a "blank" slide for close inspection brings the image back

- A slide show shows all slides intact

- All other modes show the slide show intact

The same presentations appear fine in the slide sorter view of Powerpoint
X (original version of Office for OS X?).  It seems that only PP 2004
causes this?

Things tried but failed to remedy:

- set the auto option in the slide sorter toolbar
- removing all previous versions of MS Office by trashing them and
emptying the trash
- reinstalled MS Office 2004 (multiple times - tried both installation
options)
- updating MS Office 2004 to version 11.1.1 with updates from
http://www.microsoft.com/mac (installed the 11.1.0 update first and then
11.1.1)
- removed Powerpoint's temp images manually (so that they would be
rebuilt)
- changed the file's location to the local machine
- temporarily set the user's home directory to the local machine
- searched Microsoft support and message boards for solutions to similar
problems

Ideas?

Thanks.

Hi Scott,

Some of the older powerbooks don't have as much video memory as would be
nice to have for powerpoint. What hardware are you using?

My client is using a G4 or G5 Mac.   Same problem happens when the
presentations are viewed on the client's home G4/G5 Mac, same version of
Office 2004.   Office X has proven to present the slides via the Sorter
just fine.   Thus, Office 2004 really appears to be the problem.
