Opening PPT Mac 2001 in PPT v. X. Possible?

I have many ppt presentation in powerpoint 2001:mac which ran on OS
9.2.  Is it possible for me to open them in PPT v. X?  They don't show
up as readable files.

There is no reason why they shouldn't. You can press the alt key and
drag them to the PPT icon in the Dock or try adding .ppt to the name of
the file to see if it makes a difference,
