Hi,

Can I create a PP 2004 presentation and package it on a CD to be played on
PC's and Mac's that don't have PP installed?

TIA

Sure, you can include the PowerPoint Viewer.  You can find links to the
PowerPoint 2003 Viewer for Windows and the PowerPoint 98 Viewer for Mac
here.

Be warned that the Mac viewer doesn't support a lot of the new features in
PowerPoint, so the presentation might not look right there.  You should use
the Compatibility Report feature in the Tools menu to see what kind of
incompatibilities you would be dealing with.

One workaround: export as a .mov movie. If the computer has QuickTime
player, you'll be able to play the presentation.

PCs won't typically have QuickTime installed though.

But if the CD is autostart for PCs, it could include the Viewer and launch that
automatically;  it could include instructions to launch the QT movie version if
on a Mac

Many thanks for your help much appreciated :-)

Be warned though, that the Viewer for Mac will only run if the machine has
OS 9 installed (for the Classic environment or natively).  There's no way to
run it if the user has only OS X.
