Ex-girlfriend is looking to buy a used MacBook Pro off craigslist,
I've been enlisted to check it out to see if it's OK to buy. I seem to
recall one of the Mac news sites had a listing of stolen laptop
serials to check, but google is not helping at the moment.  I checked
on stolen911.com with no hits, but I was wondering if there was
another couple of listings I could check before telling her to go
ahead and buy it, without having her getting busted for receiving
stolen property.

TIA.

If you have the serial number, why not just call Apple and ask them?

Unless a laptop is still covered under AppleCare I would never buy one used.

I would think any site like that would be rampant with abuse and carry a
heavy liability burden.

The only thing you can do is try and check with your local police
department, or that local to the seller.
