iPod devices that are equipped with video players must have the
movies from their original format converted to one that can be read
and played by the iPod movie player system...

Bzzzzt - wrong.

You don't have to purchase *any* software to convert DVD movies to iPod
format to play on your iPod. All you need is the open source freeware
HandBrake to do that:
