My Macbook Pro 2.2 core 2 duo has been great until I did the latest Pro
Application Support update.  Now the computer runs generally hotter than
it did before and the fan runs non-stop.  Running 10.4.10.

Rebooted, reset the SMU, repaired permissions - no change.

Any suggestions?

I think I would first try resetting the SMC:

If that doesn't help, I'd bring it in to an Apple Store or call Apple
support and let them figure out what's wrong.
