John,
I suppose it would be a pisser to see a new sign go up for the Quad Core
processor shortly after you purchased one of the last Core Duo machines.
I actually moved on the MacBook Pro as soon as the Core 2 Duo and hard
drive update occurred.
I's been months now sitting at the cutting edge
and I'm grateful for that. However, they could put plutonium in the next
release and it would not slow down or diminish my computer in any way
whatsoever.
I suppose the best way to play the game is buy what you need now if
necessary, but if not just relax till the next step is taken in the
inexorable march of technology, then jump.

http://www.macrumors.com/ is your friend. They are talking its a neutral
situation. There are rumors of a major, major update in October. But
there is supposed to be a new intel platform out in May. Will Apple go to
it, who knows. If your happy with what you have wait. If you are not buy.
Product MacBook Pro
Recommendation: Neutral - Mid product cycle
Last Release October 24, 2006
Days Since Update 143 (Avg = 182)
I was waiting, when my Ti gave up the ghost I bought a MacBook Pro. Even
over the internet and days before Xmas I had it in 2 days.
