I used to have a picture on the screen of my g4 17" laptop. I no longer want
it there and reset the background to a plain blue color. But the place where
the picture used to be has left a dark blue "shadow" box on the screen. It's
been like this for months. I can't figure out how to get rid of it.

Suggestions most appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

This sounds like the image is burned into the screen, which can happen
if a static image stays on for long periods of time.  A screen saver
should have prevented this.

Not on an LCD - it's a laptop, remember.
