Replacing the hard drive in a Powerbook G4 Ti 1GHz.

Any reason not to just follow the PB G4 Ti instruction manual on how to
replace the hard drive?

Any additional tips from those who have done this?

And BTW, this is a very beginner question, what is the reason for
keeping the lid open while replacing the drive?

Thanks for any tips.

Straight forward, just follow the steps.

Don't sweat.  ;-) Means - take your time, its not like heart surgery.

So you don't inadvertently press the keyboard into the screen.

Not really, but if it makes you feel better you could compare it to the
instructions found at <http://www.ifixit.com/>.  A different description
of the same process can help if you're not sure about the procedure.

Beats me. I didn't do that. I googled for the directions when I had to
replace the hard drive in my PB G4 Tibook and it never mentioned keeping
the lid open. At any rate, the replacement process worked fine. Just
follow the directions, but I don't see why the lid needs to be open.

So the screen wouldn't get damaged from the pressure. Wasn't it in the manual?
As I recall, it was. /PaulN

I followed the manual and it was almost perfect. I needed advice how to
separate the plugs and I was told on this newsgroup to use a small knife and
do it very-very carefully. It worked. /PaulN
