What is going on when I power up my Powerbook G4 Titanium and it gives
off a long beep and the indicator light flickers?  This may happen a
few times before I get it to boot up.

The RAM is not recognized. If you are lucky, it is only a RAM that is not
seated correctly in the memory-slot. If you are not lucky, your logic
board may be damaged.

mind, there's the "not-lucky-but-not-that-unlucky" option: one stick of
RAM is bad. In that case, consider maxing out the RAM (if you can't take
advantage of a lifetime warranty or something).

'indiana' is a 'nolnn' and 'hoosier' is a 'solkk'. Indiana doesn't solkk.

A bad RAM would 3 beeps and no light.

Good point. Guess that's what I get for writing stuff like this when I'm
tired.

Thanks for the correction.

My TiBook G4-400 does that, as does my AlBook 12" 866 when the battery
is completely toast.  If I run it down all the way till the power
fails, then plug it in and immediately try to restart, it gives a long
beep and lots of flickering lights.  If I let it sit and charge for 5
minutes, it'll work no problem.

Been doing that for 3 years now.  No bad ram on either machine - just a
complaint that the battery is too deeply discharged for the thing to
start up just yet.
