Anyone have any suggestions on a good replacement hard drive for a G3 (Lombard)
PowerBook? I'm slowly turning my old Lombard into a backup OS X machine and I
need something bigger than the installed 6 GB.
Probably something in the 60 to 80 GB range would work...

Go to
http://www.xlr8yourmac.com/
Click on the "database" tab and select "drive compatibility". Fill in
the search for Hard Drive and the G3 powerbook and there are lots of
comments on suitability.
I thought the Samsung one looked the best bet but eventually got a
Fujitsu one off eBay (albeit both only 40GB drives).
It is very fast and whisper quiet. Very easy replacement job too
(directions on the xlr8 site)

I found many of the references on that page were not current and
difficult to get.
I bought this 60 gb Seagate Momentus from Newegg
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16822148088
It works fine in my lombard.
ATA-6 drives are backwards compatible. If you watch dealmac like
drives show up as specials occasionally.
