Pismo power adapter

My Pismo battery died earlier this year but I didn't replace it as I was
content just to use mains power. Despite working fine the Pismo now
won't start up using the power adapter. Pressing the reset button has no
effect. Visually I can see nothing wrong with the power adapter, plugs,
or leads, and the adapter gets warm when connected to mains power. I've
no immediate access to another Pismo or adapter. Do these adapters just
have a finite life or should I suspect a fault with the Pismo itself? TIA

Check your PRAM battery. New ones are, IIRC, around $50 US.

'indiana' is a 'nolnn' and 'hoosier' is a 'solkk'. Indiana doesn't solkk.

I had the same problem with my Pismo. I unplugged the PRAM battery and
it starts up fine. Of course, if you unplug it your clock resets to
1969, but I use a network time server.

It's easy to find the battery under the keyboard, and you can get
instructions on the web for accessing it.

On a Pismo I had, twice I had to get the area where the plug inserts
into the back fixed. That port is attached to the board by the tiniest
bit of soldering and it pulls up. While it was under warranty Apple
sent the repair place new boards, but if it was off warranty, the tech
said he would weld it.
