Safari speed problem

I have an frustrating problem with Safari on my 17" 1Gig running 10.4.6.

When I use it on my home or office network either wired or wireless, no
problem with response and download time.  For that matter, never a
problem on any network but one.

But when I connect via ethernet to an SBC wired network where I work
sometimes, it's very slow and takes forever to load a page.  All the PCs
on the network (no other Macs) fly.  I've tried different ports and
cables, repaired permissions, etc.  Can't seem to find a workaround.

Any ideas?

check your DNS servers.  Look at /etc/resolv.conf

If you have multiple DNS servers, and the first one is not
responding, you will have to wait for it to timeout before the 2nd
DNS server is tried.

Check your fellow PC user's DNS servers and if they are different,
then try using their DNS servers.  You would enter these via your
Systems Preferences -> Network -> TCP/IP panel.
