I have a PB Ti 500 that the screen is very dark. The only way I can see
what's even on it is to hold a flashlight right up against the screen.
I have now replaced the motherboard, the inverter card and the LCD. I
have a new PMU on the way as well. I know it isn't the backlight bulb
or the problem would have went away when I changed the LCD.
Essentially, I have rebuilt the entire laptop. If the PMU board doesn't
fix it what could possibly be the problem???

Does the inverter card recieve the DC input voltage that it should?
That is the first place I would look since it is basically in the
middle. If it does, then check its output. It should be a few hundred
volts. If that voltage is there, then there is something amiss between
the card and the CCFL (cableing or connectors). If the voltage is
present at the CCFL then the CCFL itself is bad.

In otherwords, you are going to need a voltmeter and/or o'scope and do
some signal checking. Otherwise you will have to continue to guess.
