Protective padding for 15" Powerbook

I've got a G4 Powerbook (the latest model, currently available) and
bought a nice Crumpler bag which has a "pouch" that for the laptop
itself. It's great!

But the material is a bit "rough" and I'm afraid that in time the
Powerbook will get a bit scratched or "worn", so I'm thinking that some
sort of very soft protective padding just to protect the Powerbook from
scratches would be ideal. Also something similar to put between the
keyboard and the screen (up to now I've been using the flexible
polystyrene (or whatever it is) that came with the computer to avoid any
scratches to the screen from the keyboard.

Any store that sells laptops will probably have what you want for around
$30. If you are on a budget, just use an ordinary plastic bag. A grocery
store bag would work fine and it costs nothing.

I have a friend who used to use a cotton towel.
Works as a charm but sort of conflicts with the mac image  ;-)

Not necessary in my experience (same setup).

May be necessary - not just for the fingerprints.
If you heavily load the Crumpler bag, it will compress the computer so
that the aluminium of the screen rubs on the aluminium of the keyboard.
After some time it will show marks (reflecting). It is a purely cosmetic
problem. Even an ordinary sheet of paper will take care of that.

I've got one of these:

Very nice.  A little pricey for what it is, but very nice.

I used to keep that sheet of padding which came with the
computer for this purpose. Used it for a couple of years.
Recently replaced it with this:

Again, outrageously expensive for what it is, but
it looks a lot better than that silly foam sheet and
it's very much less likely to be accidently thrown away...

Plain Bread alone for e-mail, thanks.  The rest gets trashed.

Yes, they both look exactly like what I need, but

a) the price is pretty steep, and
b) I could do without the silly logo/writing on them (which probably
just makes it more expensive anyway).

Anything similar to this without fancy brand-names printed all over?
(I've searched the web, but all I've found are sleeves with zippers, and
I'd avoid zippers getting close to my Powerbook -after all, the whole
point of a sleeve like this is to avoid getting scratches!).

If you can get bulk material (it's essentially a polyester microfiber),
you could probably find a local seamstress to make a sleeve for less
than $10.

'indiana' is a 'nolnn' and 'hoosier' is a 'solkk'. Indiana doesn't solkk.

Go to a fabrics store and look at the bulk materials. Lots to choose from.
Try a men's clothing store that custom makes suits. Might find a nice wool
for next to nothing (end of the roll)...

Good luck,
