Hi,

I have an ipod mini that I bought in Mar'05.  I only started using it
about two months ago.  The battery life right now is absolutely
pathetic.  Once I charge the battery all night, it lasts for about 45
mins the next day; its obnoxious!  I contaced apple, and they said that
according to my one year warrant I will have to mail it to them, which
will cost me about $40, and they "recommend" that I purchase an
extended warranty for $59.  I feel scammed.

I am sure this has happened to other people.   What have you guys done
about it?  What do you recommend?

Help much apprecitaed

Thanks,

If there is an apple store anywhere near you, take it in.  Odds are,
they'll send it out for you or replace it on the spot with a refurb.

Customer paying shipping isn't uncommon in any industry.  After all, if
your car breaks down, the dealer won't pay for the tow, even if it's
still under warranty.

I had a mini that did that same thing, and it was within the year
warranty, so I just took it to my local Apple store and it was swapped
for a new one.  No cost to me at all!

If they find the battery defective, it's their problem.  They handle
everything, even if they have to ship it off.  You will pay nothing.
Don't worry!
