Any options for getting WiFi on a Lombard? It runs both OS 9.2.2 and OS X 10.2.
I have an older D-Link USB adapter but in OS X it causes the machine to
frequently freeze, requiring a hard restart.

Google Groups "Lombard/OSX/Orinoco"... there were a couple of
recommendations in that thread. I was looking for the same thing for a
while, but I gave up since I apparently have one of those Lombards that
freeze running OS X. Never was able to find out what the problem or
fix was. Maybe that's what is going on with your machine. Something
about "copper processors", I think.
Some people get them to run without problems, others experience
frequent freezes. Right now, it's a paperweight :-(

I got a belkin card for mine. Stuck it in, and hey presto, worked great.
I have 10.3 on it, but I assume that 10.2 won't be a problem.

Yeah me too, a Belkin F5D7010, old version of the card.

H.B.-
Whats a Lombard? I can't keep up with all the names. I assume it is one
of the PowerBooks. I have the Wallstreet PB G3 with 9.2.2 and 10.2.8.
Under OS 9.2.2, the Wallstreet sees an Orinoco (Lucent) Silver or Gold
PCMCIA 802.11b Wireless card as if it were an Airport card. Under OS X,
the Orinoco can use a driver from Sourceforge, but seems to be a bit
flakey.
Under 10.2.8 the Wallstreet sees a Belkin F5D7010 802.11g card as if it
were an Airport card. OS 9.2.2 doesn't recognize it. There may be a
driver for OS 9, but I haven't found it.
BEWARE: Belkin changed their chipset in the F5D7010. The newer version
3000 and up (in the white package) are not recognized as Airport. Look
for the older version 1000 or 2000 series cards in the red and silver
package. I've seen these recently at one of the Apple Stores. There is a
very small lable on the bottom of the package, as well as on the card,
that lists the VER. number.
There is also an Asante FriendlyNet PCMCIA 802.11b card, model AL1011-DP,
that comes with both OS 9 and X drivers.
I have a Belkin 802.11b USB adapter that works on an old Beige G3
MiniTower using drivers downloaded from Belkin's web site. It works OK
under 10.2.8, but has to be disconnected and reconnected each time I boot
under 9.2.2, in order to be recognized.
