I received my new ibook this week and it is great!  There is just one
little annoying thing about it though - the battery is not quite flush
with the case.  This is a very small thing but it annoys me.  My
daughter's ibook does not have this problem.  Has anyone else had this
problem.  Would it be worth a call to tech support?  Any chance of
getting a new battery?  Thanks for your input.

Our 12" has the same issue.  At first it annoyed me.  After about a
week, I truly stopped caring, because the top half of it looks and
works so nicely!

Not sure if tech support would do anything or not; it certainly can't
hurt to ask.  But my guess is it's just a known design flaw; it's
certainly not unique to your machine.

My 12" ibook also has the same problem, obviously it is a very minor
thing, but it is annoying considering that appart from that the
styling is absolutely perfect!

I would be interested to hear if you contacted apple and what their
response was.

Have you tried swapping batteries with your daughter? This would tell
you if the problem is due to the notches in the battery or the little
metal tabs on the ibook that protrude into those notches.

Yes I did swap batteries with my daughter and the fit was perfect in my
ibook so I think the issue is with the battery itself.

I called tech support today and explained my problem and that I was
sure it was a problem with the battery since I had tried one from
another ibook and it fit perfectly. They are sending me a replacement
battery.  No problem, they were very nice about it.  I was impressed.
