I'd like to marry my old PalmV to my aluminum PowerBook.
I've tired the PalmConnect kit. The kit is recognized by the System
Profiler but Palm's own software doesn't allow a hotsync.
I considered the Palm-USB cable made by Belkin, but according to their
web site, this cable only works with Mac OS 8 and 9.
So, I'm wondering about IrDA-USB adapters to allow an infrared hotsync.
There are lots of them on the market but only one seems to be Mac
compatible: Bafo's BF-7030. However, I haven't found any testimonials
from Mac users about these adapters.
Has anyone gotten the BF-7030 to sync with a PDA?
Has anyone gotten a Windows-based IrDA-USB adapter to work under Mac OS
X 10.4.2?

Hello,
Just for your information, adapters using sigmatel's STIR4210 chipset
are supposed to be mac compatible. They post a driver on this page
http://www.sigmatel.com/products/tech-support.htm#ir-support
An example of such an adapter is one by st-lab
http://www.st-lab.com/u280.htm
Please note that I haven't tried this - I'm just investigating the
same thing you are.
