I have a 11 month old ibook G4. Was looking to increase memory from
256MB by adding 512MB. Was given the following spec (200 pin ddr
PC2100 266mhz, 64x64 CL 2.5 SODIMM 8 chip). I was offered the same
spec except it was PC2700. (It was cheaper and I was assured it would
work - which it does)
Although the machine is running so much faster the system does not
recognise the extra 512MB. (i.e. When I access the "About this MAC"
menu) I was looking to run virtual PC for the mac which requires 512mb
but I cannot allocate the extra memory to the application unless the
system recognises it.
Any suggestions as to how to make it "see" the extra memory
Many thanks

Who assured you the PC2700 would work?
Get them to buy the memory back and go get PC2100. That's guaranteed
to work by Apple.

If the system can't "see" the extra memory, then it ain't working.
Replace the crap they gave you with the PC2100.

Huh, the problem maybe is not with the standard as much as the SODIMM
module.
My G4 ibook is working perfectly with a 1Gb PC2700 module!
