Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately, this did not work for me.
If I have no mouse pointer, simply pulling and re-inserting the Cinema
display's DVI connector from my PB does not restore the mouse pointer.
The only way I've found to get the pointer back is to re-activate the PB's
main display in dual-display mode, then put the machine to sleep, close
the cover, and wake it back up with just the Cinema display active. This
works 100% of the time to restore the pointer, and nothing else I've tried
works at all (well, restarting the machine with the Cinema as the
primary, and only, display also works, but my sleep/awaken technique takes
a lot less time than that).
Any other ideas? Anyone?

Thanks for getting back. I'm trying to get a picture of what might be
going wrong. I don't think it is anything to do with getting confused
about which monitor it thinks the pointer is on, because it still works
on both, even if I can't see it. (It will raise the dock and I can
still make the right thing happen when I accidentally click on
something useful on the other monitor)
Let's hope it is fixed in 10.3.8

Yes - same thing here - the Mac knows where the mouse is, and it is fully
usable. Just no pointer. When in this mode, I have found I can click and
drag on the desktop to get a sense of the x & y coordinates, which allows
me to hone in on a button or control I need to use.

I'm seeing the same problem with a 17" and 10.3.7. I upgraded several
weeks ago, the problem just started appearing late last week. The only
thing I've added new was the Skype beta.

Forgot to mention that I also added a 4 port powered Belkin USB hub
about the time the problem appeared. I have the external keyboard and
mouse plugged into it. I was assuming it had to do with the hub.
