Hi-

Kinda wish I got an ibook...

What are my options for covering the aluminum with a something less
slippery and that offers more protection?

It would be best if it were removable without leaving gummy residue if
it needs to be removed (if it wears poorly.)

Are there really no options?

Thanks

Are we talking about the bottom? how about some little rubber stick-on
feet. If they wear poorly, buy more!

I think that anything you stick onto the case will be difficult to remove
because of the heat. There are sticky backed sheets of felt available in
craft stores, which are used on the bottom of lamps and such, to protect
furniture. That would work, but I'd consider it permanent, expecting to
replace it when it wears. And you'd have to make sure you can get to the
battery compartment, and any screws needed to open the case.

A Google search turned up:

<http://www.macskinz.com/>

However, I'm unsure about whether they actually have anything to fit
modern PowerBooks -- their FAQ section claims they do, but the product
page doesn't turn up any skins for *any* PowerBooks.  You may want to
contact them and find out some specifics.

So, anyone running the new OS (clean install) on low-end machines with
512 MB of RAM like my above specifications? :)
