I never upgraded to 1Gb because I would have had to replace 2-256Mb
chips with 2-512Mb chips.  Now, I have read, there are 1Gb chips out.
Does anybody know if a PowerBook will recognize them?  I might be
willing to spend the money on 2-1Gb chips, or even just put in one and
keep the other 256Mb chip, if that is possible.

If the PowerBook can use them, does anybody know a source, part number,
price, whatever?  Is it posssible just to use one?

PowerBook G4 Aluminium can work with the 1GB chips, PowerBook Titanium
have a maximum of 1GB in 2 512MB chips. PB Alu before April 2004 require
special 1GB chips.

As you do not state where you are and what kind of PowerBook you have,
it is quite difficult to answer your questions about whatever;-) And
yes, it is possible to use just one.

Cheers
Andreas

Thanks.  I think I have a Titanium.  I bought it quite a while ago.  It
is Model # A1025, if that helps.  I didn't realize there were two
models.
