I've ordered a 12" powerbook and will receive it later this
week.  Can anyone tell me how easy/hard it is to add memory
to this system?  Is it along the same difficulty of adding
memory to an old G3 powerbook, or does it require more
disassembly of the system?  Thanks.

Very easy. You may need a little tiny philips-head screwdriver. m.

The Reply-To email address is good. (As is the From: address, at this
moment.) Hopefully, spammers won't get the former, so it should remain
good.

Thanks.  Looks pretty easy.

I have a 15" Powerbook, and added 512k of RAM before I first turned it on.
It's very easy, and I believe the 12" machine is similar. There's a hatch
on the underneath held down by four small phillips screws, and then a
standard SODIMM socket underneath (well, two SODIMM sockets, one above the
other, with the original RAM in the bottom[1] one).

[1] "Bottom" with the machine upside down and open, ie the upper socket in
absolute terms.

The installation is very simple. One thing to watch for, however, is to follow
the instructions exactly for removing and replacing the battery. (They want you
to remove the battery first just to be sure you do not accidentally power on the
machine while installing the memory.) When I put my battery back in, I put the
wrong end in first. It did not fit easily, so I pushed too hard and ended up
with a battery that is stuck in place. The powerbook works fine, and hopefully I
will have no need to get the battery out before I am ready for a new powerbook,
because it is really stuck and I am told the fix would be very expensive.
