Buying a used iBook?

There seem to have been several quality issues with iBooks, if my research in
the usenet archives is accurate. Have any current or discontinued iBook
models escaped the quality problems? Or are all of them having repair issues?

I know that for some of the models Apple has introduced an extended repair
program, but I'd like to find a model that doesn't have any issues, to begin
with.

What models should I be looking for that won't have *known* quality issues?
Faster processor speed or huge memory/HD aren't primary concerns; this
computer will be used mostly for e-mail, word processing, web browsing.

Please, no "Go google this" replies. I wouldn't ask a
question here if I hadn't done that already.

Will consider new models, if free from known quality issues.

Linux is destined to take over the wdesktop. However, no one should be allowed
to run Linux who isn't a serious and seasoned core hacker. This is the koan of
the Linux community.

Well, I've got an Indigo G3 366Mhz iBook, only thing, just make sure you
install the latest firmware, 4.1.7 and you will be able to use 512MB
SO-DIMMs, oh, and MacOS X 10.3.4 runs quite nicely on it.

Just make sure you install the latest firmware before you try to install
either Jaguar or Panther.  There is a bug in the old firmware, and if
you try to instal OS X first, you will be in for an ordeal from hell!
