Got a question:

How does one pronounce the nickname/codename of the final PowerBook in the
G3 series of PowerBooks?

Does one pronounce Pismo as:

a) "Piz-moe"
b) "Piss-moe"
c) "Pie-smoe"

or  ???????

...and what does the word "Pismo" mean exactly?

As in Pismo Beach, both a beach and a town, a few miles south of San
Luis Obispo on the Central California coast.

Apple projects were given code names early in the development cycle to throw
off any journalists and their spies that happen to frequent the Cupertino
eateries used by Apple engineers. The names run the gamut. It became quite a
game among project managers to see who could come up with the most creative
name for their "baby".

How many can you name?

Well, for hardware many of them are listed on the product pages at
LowEndMac. Off the top of my head, I can think of:
Pismo
Wall Street
PDQ
Lombard
Blackbird
Wombat
Sagan/BHA
Piltdown
Cold Fusion
Cortland
Macintosh
Lisa

Some of those are familiar to me, but not all of them are machines or
even hardware which I had - in retrospect, unnecessarily - restricted
myself to.

I also missed Yosemite, Sawtooth, and Yikes.

Shame on me, though. I've got 2 generations of Elsie, and my mother had
a Tanzania machine.
