I have been saving important email messages by dragging them out of Outlook
on Win XP
and into folders on my computer. The files are saved with a .msg extension.
Anyone know if these could be opened in Outlook or Entourage on a mac?

These files are more than likely proprietary to Outlook itself and won't
simply open in Entourage. You may be interested in the scripts mentioned
here
<http://entourage.mvps.org/cross_platform/win_mac.html#convert_scripts>.

As for Outlook on Mac, it requires an Exchange server and can not be
used independently of an Exchange server. Therefore, to move files from
Outlook on Windows to Outlook on Mac, you can drag your .msg files back
into Outlook on Windows where they will be uploaded to the server. These
messages will then be available to your Mac Outlook.

Hope this helps! bill
