I received a file with the extension of .wps and can't open it. Can
someone tell me what program I need to open it. I am using an iMac.
Thanks, John

Do you know how to do Google searches?  A simple Google search for ".ws
file extension" found this:

<http://www.fileinfo.net/extension/wps>

You're dealing with a file created by the MS Works word processor. Mac
Office no longer provides filters for opening those files but you have at
least 2 options;

If it's a one-time deal, find yourself someone with PC Word (which does have
the converters). Have them open the file & Save As in .doc format for you,

If it will be an ongoing need you may want to invest in MacLink Plus Deluxe
(DataViz) which can do that for you plus a whole lot more. I think it goes
for around US$70 but it's worth the price if you need it:-)

I neglected to mention one other possible option: The originator of the file
may be able to Save As in .doc or .rtf format & provide you with a
replacement - it depends on what version of Works they have.
