Hello,
You seem very desperate, so you forgot to tell us which Office and whis OS
you use, I will give you few general hints, if this will not help, post back
with more information.

Have you ever had Test drive installed on your Mac? If so, did you remove it
by  remove office utility? If not, that's your problem, Navigate to
Application >MS folder >additionla tools>remove office. Then install the
proper Office version.

If you haven't test drive installed or you remove it properly and still
cannot run office follow these steps:

0. close all Office application

1. I would try to run Repair Disk Permissions
Open up Disk Utility. > click the First Aid tab > ³Repair Disk Permissions.²

2. Update office + run Repair Disk Permissions

3. apply apple combo updater to your OS
(you forgot to mention which one do you use so I cannot  give you the direct
link)

From Diane Ross post:
Mac OS X 10.4.9 Combo Update (Intel)
atform=osx&method=sa/MacOSXUpdCombo10.4.9Intel.dmg>

More info on why applying the combo updater helps:
<http://www.entourage.mvps.org/troubleshoot/combo.html>

4. run verify and repairt disk permitions (this is recommended to run any
time you install/remove SW on your Mac)

5. Now try to run the office

If this will not help post back and let us know what you have done so far.
Good luck

When you say "program icon": Do you mean the actual application icons in the
Applications folder accessed via a Finder window, or are you referring to
the icons in the Dock?

Oh CyberTaz, TX for spotting, I was reading Programs will NOT open if a file
is opened.
Now this means he just doesn't have the right alias of office application in
the dock, the installation of office should be Ok, which means I was
answering something else :) In that case just locate your office application
in application folder and drag the icon into DOCk, that should do the trick.

I'm hotheaded and absendminded alltogether, gosh, that's killing
combination. Pierre Richards films are nothing comparing to me :)
It's going worst and worst, if had known what I did last weekend... I wanted
to buy a present which I found on net in Big Shopping center, I did not
realize it will be big, SO BIG - it was just as finding needele in the
haystack  - I wished if I just had make a note of the shop which they sell
the present.

I don't think you missed or misinterpretted anything:) I just saw another
possibility hiding in the message ;-) if it *is* the actual app icons that
won't launch the software my "insight" is meaningless... Just seemed odd
that the programs would launch one way but not another.

Hi Little Creature:

Don't worry, it will all be better when you are my age.

When you get to the shop, you will have forgotten what you wanted to buy, so
it doesn't matter which shop it is in :-)

You can spend the rest of the day trying to remember whee you parked the car
:-)

Hope this helps!

I don't have a car, nor my parents do and therefore I don't even have
the driving license, so fortunately I cannot forget where I parked the
car, I just can confuse the train/bus which to go home or forgot to
get off and end up somewhere else :) Which happens to me about once in
month. Not too bad.

Programs will not open from icons in dock or in applications folder.

1.  Use "Remove Office" found in the Additional Tools folder inside Office
2004 (I'm assuming it's 2004 since you didn't mention what version). This
will remove all files including invisible ones. It won't remove the
Microsoft User Data folder where you email and some of your other Office
data is located.

2.  Next, run the Apple combo updater.Doing so overwrites potentially
problem-causing files.  Combo updaters will install on the same version as
they¹re applying‹no need to roll back or do a clean install.

Mac OS X 10.4.10 Combo Update (Intel)

updateintel.html>

More info on why applying the combo updater helps:

3. Install Office from the CD. You'll need your CD key. Update using the
11.3.5 Office combo updater.

If your Office applications don't launch now, test in a new User. Create a
new User in System Preferences to test. If it fails there, do an Archive &
Install of the OS.
