Using Mac Office on Intel iMac

I am experiencing several problems since I upgraded to a new Intel
iMac. I
transferred all my files and apps by Firewire from my old G4. Now....

Prob. 1: I get an error message when attempting to open any Office
application by clicking on a document. Message is: "operation could not
be
completed error code -10660".

Prob 2: If I try to open an MS doc in an email message it tells me "MS
Word
failed to open the attachment. Choose an application to open
attachment" even
though Word is already open.
I've never had these problems before and while not terrible they are
annoying.
Any help out there?

You didn't say which version of Word and Office you have. If you were using
an old Classic version - 2001 or 98 - in Classic on your old Mac, you're out
of luck. Classic does not run on Intel Macs, as I best recall. You'll have
to upgrade to 2004.

If you have Office 2004 or v. X:

Use the "Remove Office" utility you'll find in /Applications/Microsoft
Office 2004/Additional Tools/ (or Office v. X). This operation will NOT
remove any of your data (Entourage data, Word documents, etc.). Then EMPTY
the Trash.

Then reinstall Office from the CD.

Office installs various files in places that may not have transferred
correctly. You'll need to reinstall. Office 2004 and X work fine on a
MacIntel, by all reports.

Please "Reply To Newsgroup" to reply to this message. Emails will be
ignored.

PLEASE always state which version of Microsoft Office you are using -
**2004**, X  or 2001. It's often impossible to answer your questions
otherwise.

Not sure if you figured out your problem yet.

I had a similar problem because Microsoft Office Test Drive comes with
the new Macs.  If test drive is on your computer or in your unemptied
trash, this might be the reason.
