Hi there,
I have two PowerMac G4s on the same network both running
Microsoft Office 2004 Student Teacher edition.  Both have different
product IDs.  Computer A can run Office 2004 when Computer B is NOT
running it.  However, if Computer B is running it, Computer A CANNOT
run it.  But if Computer A is running it, Computer B CAN run it.  They
are both running 11.2.  I get the error on Computer A that reads:

Microsoft Office X cannot start because Microsoft Office X is already
in use. An office program is being use by <Name>. Your installation
exceeds the number of installations permitted by the license agreement.
Click more information to learn about the Microsoft office licensing.

What is going on here?? Can anyone help me?

I suspect the same serial number has been entered in both. I also
suspect Computer B has the database daemon running. Check in the
Activity monitor to see whether it is there.

If you only have 1 cd key then this is why you  are getting that
message.  1 cd key means you can only install it on one computer, any
more than that and you have broken the licensing agreement
