A reader of MacInTouch made a parenthetical mention that the SP2 updater
that was originally posted contained some bugs and that a different SP2
was posted sometime later. See comments by Blake McCormick at
<http://www.macintouch.com/office2004part07.html#sep26>.

I can confirm that there were two different SP2 installers posted.  The
only way I could tell them apart is by computing and comparing the sha1
or md5 values.  Those having problems may want to check the version of
the SP2 that they have.

The original download has a  sha1 value of
308008488d9feb1b3ff9dfad7cd70f0fd9a25f51 and an md5 value of
44bc91d796a076f0ef1ec897077b86b0.

The current download has a sha1 value of
61f71ae140dcc00daa87378c0ab2c04de71b113c and an md5 value of
0803228d133b315f8792c2c007739121.

Hi Matt,
MacBU's Rebecca Harris posted the following statement on Monday, it might
interest you to see what the exact changes are between both the old and the
new SP2 updater:

Thanks for pointing that out and being so kind about it.  I guess I
either completely missed it or perhaps MT-NewsWatcher and my news server
didn't see eye to eye as to what I had viewed.

Yup. It was announced by Rebecca Harriss of MacBU in this (and all other
m.p.mac.office*) newsgroups on Monday afternoon.

Here's what she wrote:

=========================
Hi Everyone,

This posting is letting everyone know that we have re-released the Mac
Office SP2 11.2 patch/autoupdate to resolve 2 issues. If you have already
successfully applied the patch via the download or autoupdate, there is
no need to apply the updated version.

Enhancements in this release:
* We now find and patch Office 11 versions that were registered to
another language using the Language Register.
* We now ask the user to quit Office Notifications and Messenger, and
silently quit the Database Daemon prior to installing the update.

Thanks,
Rebecca
