Thanks for pointing that out and being so kind about it. I guess I
either completely missed it or perhaps MT-NewsWatcher and my news server
didn't see eye to eye as to what I had viewed.

Yup. It was announced by Rebecca Harriss of MacBU in this (and all other
m.p.mac.office*) newsgroups on Monday afternoon.
Here's what she wrote:

Hi Everyone,
This posting is letting everyone know that we have re-released the Mac
Office SP2 11.2 patch/autoupdate to resolve 2 issues. If you have already
successfully applied the patch via the download or autoupdate, there is
no need to apply the updated version.
Enhancements in this release:
* We now find and patch Office 11 versions that were registered to
another language using the Language Register.
* We now ask the user to quit Office Notifications and Messenger, and
silently quit the Database Daemon prior to installing the update.
