Mac Forum / Applications / MS Office / August 2005Hi, I am new!
I got a Macintosh computer for Christmas, and Office 2004 for my Anniversary. I am still getting used to it. Does anyone know if there is a way to add more Office Assistant's to the gallery? Thanks! Karen Extra assistants are not included with Office 2004. However, if you happen to have an earlier version of Office that did include additional assistants, simply insert the old version's CD, navigate to Office CD/Value Pack/Assistants, and copy the assistant(s) you want to /Applications/Microsoft Office 2004/Office/Assistants. They'll then become available to you. You just need a 1-time copy. By the way, ClipArt is very similar--not much with Office 2004 but you can use the stuff from an older CD (though there are also online downloads for that). I wouldn't spend any money to get a Help Assistant, especially since you actually get much better and much more usable results if you turn the assistant off entirely. Then you get a nice two column view that lists many more results on the left and lets you browse them on the right. You never have to hit More Info or redo the search to get back to the results because the first one you picked wasn't satisfactory, as I always did with the assistant. I'm *guessing* that Office 98 would also work, but no one seems to have tested and confirmed it, though I would assume it would be cheaper than Office 2001. > Any specific version?
