OE 5.02 can't launch anymore

A week ago, right after I deleted an item from my Inbox,
OE crashed. I got this message on screen: "An error
occurred while launching. The end of file was reached."
From then on, that message was all I got whenever I
clicked on the OE icon.
I tried the Knowledge Base - but its solution - trashing a
Preferences file from the Microsoft User Data folder -
didn't work.
I'm convinced that since the initial crash occurred
instantly upon deleting an email, the problem is due to a
totally saturated Deleted Items folder. If I could empty
this folder, I could get my OE back. The problem is - how
can I do an end run around Outlook Express and locate this
folder on the Mac hard drive. Finder wasn't much help.
So how can I get there? (Or is this error message due to
something else?)

PS I had to post this message from a Windows computer.
When I tried this from my Mac, Send didn't work. Does
anyone else have that problem?
