For quite a long time now, I have been getting the same error message
whenever I open Outlook Express, to the effect that one of my emails could
not be delivered because of an error in the address domain.  The only way to
delete this message is to click on the OK button, but it comes back again
when I next go to my emails.
Is there a way I can permanently delete such messages?

Do you have any invalidly addressed messages sitting in your Outbox?  If so,
delete them (and recompose if necessary), then try again.
