As the subject line indicates, I am getting the "not enough memory"
error message at launch. I have tried some of the "fixes" suggested
on this group, specifically:
1. Allocating more memory to the program via Finder
2. Compacting the address and mail folders
As many others have done, I downloaded and installed 5.0.6, hoping
that it would automatically import my old messages and contacts...but
this didn't work. Choosing "import" simply prompts me to select the
folder for Outlook to look in. However, when I get to my old
"Identities" folder it comes up as empty for some reason.
I've tried to look over prior posts, run some searches, etc. but
please forgive me if I have overlooked something obvious. At this
point I just want to start running 5.0.6, but get my old messages and
contacts in it. Any further suggestions?
thanks for any help,
Ben B
PS - I have an old (from probably a week or two ago) copy of the
"Identities" folder from a backup Zip disc. I don't suppose copying
this back onto the hard drive would help at all, right? If Outlook
can't seem to recognize my old messages currently, I don't see why it
would do so with another folder....

Just for the record, I ended up, as a last-ditch effort, deciding to
do the "complex rebuild"
after trying the simpler one. Surprisingly enough, it actually
allowed 5.0.2 to open! I then moved the now "complexly compacted"
database and messages files over to the proper folder for 5.0.6 and,
lo and behold, everything seems to work!
Hope that others that might find themselves with this same problem
have as much luck as I seemed to!

I was going to ask whether or not you'd tried the complex rebuild. Anyway,
glad that my site helped you.
