Dual New Mail Notification Sounds

Greetings,
I am running Mac OS 9.2.2 and OE 5.0.6 and whenever I receive new
e-mail I get the standard OE new mail notification but also I get an
applause sound set alert.  I also receive my Hotmail account mail
through OE and am wondering if this has anything to do with the dual
notification sounds.  My question is, can the applause alert be shut
off or at least changed to a more pleasant sounding sound set?  I have
not found in OE a place to turn on/off this sound set.  Likewise I
have not found in the sound control panel a place to address this
problem.  I even went into the internet control panel and found that
no alerts for incoming e-mail are selected.  Though not a critical
problem, it is rather annoying.  Any assistance you can offer would be
greatly appreciated.  Thank you.
Respectfully,
Mr. Tony
