Cannot use a rule to redirect my incoming email ??

Hello,

I want to redirect my incoming email to my YAHOO mailbox, because I
will be on the road for the next 3 weeks.

I created a simple rule that redirects all incoming mail to my YAHOO
adress.  When tested, the incoming mail is redirected but is blocked
in the OUTBOX with a red icon and is never sent.

Thinking that other rules could be the cause, I desactivated
completely all other rules.  The problem still persist.

Where can I have information on how to fix this problem ???  Thanks in
advance.

Yahoo! has the ability to access a remote POP3 server, you may find that a
little more efficient than redirecting all of your mail.

Setting up local rules to redirect messages is not the most efficient way to
do things, you'd need to leave your machine permanently on and checking for
mail at regular intervals for a start(!)

If you want to redirect, you should be able set up suitable message
forwarding through your ISP's member services page.  This is a much more
simple way of doing things.

Hello Richard,

It is nice of you to respond so fast ...

First my cable ISP doesn't offer this feature as of now (but will
later this year).  Second, for different technical reason my computer
as to be open.  Third, by passing through Outlook Express I can filter
very easily spams, and not relevant email that I don't necessarely
want to redirect to my YAHOO adress.

Conclusion :  Do you have a clue regarding my problem or do you now
about another ressource that could help ????  Thanks again.

OK, fair enough.

I would have to step back and ask exactly what errors appear in the Error
Log window when the messages failed to send from the Outbox.  It sounds like
you've done the right thing, and if the machine is permanently connected to
the Internet, then there should be no reason why the mail cannot be sent.

Try it again and see if you can generate a specific error message.

I tried it.  The message received is redirected and it appears in the
OUTBOX.  The redirection adress is also OK but the message is never
sent and has a RED redirected icon.  The redirection stops there ????
There is no error in the log window.

If I open the redirected message in the OUTBOX and press the send
button it will be sent.  So I can sent it manually but nor by rule.

I haven't forgotten about this, I'm just trying to think of what scenario
might be able to explain what you're witnessing there.

The only thing that comes to mind is if you're using a dial-up connection
that (obviously) isn't constantly connected to the Internet.  Hence it might
be the case that OE is just unable to go online automatically, whereas when
you prompt it to do so by connecting manually, things work fine.  Is that a
suitable explanation, or is there more head-scratching ahead?
