The rebuild suggested below didn't seem to work.  My
messages are still jumbled with a lot of compubabble, but
they also seem to be jumbled with other messages (!?).

Any suggestions?  Please?

Hi Papps,

Glad I could help.  Try a simple database rebuild first
(after backing up
your MUD!).  If that doesn't do it, try a complex rebuild.
Here's how:

If the rebuild method does not work to restore your mailbox correctly, then
your messages have been lost.
