Hi,
My trouble is this. I know my ISP requires the
authentication to send email. I can receive fine. When I
try to I get error 5500, "the server does not understand
the request". I have authentication set up correctly, but
it still doesn't work. I am using OE version 5.0.6 on
differnet versions of the Mac OS. I have 8.6, and X on
multiple machines. Nothing has worked to this point and
to work around this the ISP has assigned me a static IP
and set me up so that I don't have to authenticate. I
know a bug existed in version 5.0.2 and the solution was
to upgrade, well that didn't help and I have not been
able to find anything else about it online. I need help
finding another solution that doesn't require the static
IP and that is cheap or free. Thank you for your help in
advanced.

I have the same problem but do not have a workaround. using 5.0.6 on OS X. I
just switched to MAC from PC and haven't been able to send mail yet (except
through webmail client).
Does anybody have a solution to this? Please help.
