sending attachments -unknown file format

When I try to send jpgs to my friends they can't view them, they get
unknown file format
I can send them fine thru Netscape.
anyhelp would be greatly appreciated! thanks!

Laura,
   The next time you send an attachment, try the following:
Click on the triangle under the subject line that says attachments. A window
should open and you should see your attachment.
Under the window, click on the bar that says "encode for ..........
Click on Windows (MIME/Base64)
Click on Append Windows Extensions to file names
Click on NONE under compression.

Both Windows and Macs should be able to see your attachments now.
