E-mail messages in the Outlook Express in-box of my wife's IMac (OS. 9.1)
are disappearing once they have been read. This happens even after reloading
a new version of Outlook Express and trashing the Outlook Express
preferences.
If I do an Advanced Search based on a subject (such as "Problems"), the
messages show up as being in the in-box. All the messages are readable, but
once I go back to the In-box, the messages have disappeared.
Any help would be great appreciated. I suspose reinstalling OS. 9 would take
care of the problem, but I'm trying to avoid that.

You may have already checked for this, but is there a
preference set that automatically puts a message in the
Trash once it has been read?
