I am using OS 9.2 and Outlook express 5, and just recently have unable to
send and receive messages.  Every time I click on the the Send/Receive
button, Outlook closes.  There are no error messages.  I am able to go on to
the web with no problems .

Hi Bob,

No recent additions or changes?

No rogue attachments?

If your Accounts look in order (a tick next to Include this Account in my
"Send & Receive All" schedule), you may like to try re-creating the Account,
then disabling the older one, in case something went awry.

If no difference;
Quit, and try moving the Preferences to the Desktop (so it makes a fresh one
next time). Open up and try again.
If that doesn't work, then put it back (replacing the newly made one).

You've probably already done this, but;
Have a good clear out of unwanted emails, empty the Deleted Items.
Quit, Apple i (get info) on OE itself, allocate about 75% of available RAM
(or at least 20,000 K).
Then open OE whilst holding down the alt (option) key, when a dialog box
pops up, choose to compact the database.
