outlook express won't open

we have installed Win. xp. an icon comes up for Outl. Exp. but it will not
open. It makes a happy little two-note sound but that is it. i treid the
microsoft online connector-thingy and it said that Outl. Exp. was not
responding. nothing comes up; no error messages, just the sound???????

Please use the equivalent Windows group this one is for Mac users...

microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie6_outlookexpress
