I have an Intel iMac.  I brought my email from Outlook Express 5 on my
old OS 9 iMac into  Entourage on the Office 2004 Test Drive that came
with the Mac using these instructions (thanks!):

That was ok for a week or so, but now I have moved Office X (yes, X,
not 2004) onto the Intel Mac and need to bring my email onto it.  I
have exported my mail from the Test Drive of Entourage into archives.

I can't get Entourage on Office X to import these archives.
Entourage is not one of the options for import from a program.  I tried
dragging the archive files onto the Entourage icon, but that didn't
work.

I tried getting Entourage X to import from my old Outlook Express 5
identities folder that I previously copied onto the Intel Mac's hard
drive, but Entourage X didn't recognize the Outlook Express folders.

Please Help, thanks.

I'm not sure about this one, and I moved on from Office v.X to Office 2004 a
while ago, so I can't check this out for you.

I've posted your question across to microsoft.public.mac.office.entourage -
I'm sure one of the luminaries there will be able to come up with something.

The test drive was Office 2004. You cannot go backwards and import mail into
Entourage X.

You can import from an older version to a newer version.
> OE to Entourage 2001
> OE to Entourage X or Entourage 2004
> Entourage 2001 to Entourage X or Entourage 2004

You cannot import from a newer version to an older version. eg: Entourage X
to OE or Entourage 2001 using Entourage.

You cannot import from the same version of Entourage. eg: Entourage X to
Entourage X or Entourage 2001 to Entourage 2001. You can use the MBOX method
or the Export-Import Scripts
<http://www.entourage.mvps.org/import_export/index.html#47857> to transfer
mail from one identity to another.

Export your contacts as a tab delimited file (option under File --> Export)
and import these into Entourage X.
